Zil Copil Coordinator promises to work to make the response capacity more comprehensive

Praia, Apr 9 (Inforpress) – The Zika Pilot Committee (Copil Zika) coordinator, Gilson de Pina promised today to work to make the response capacity more comprehensive and strengthen the health system at national and local level .

At the inauguration ceremony this morning in Praia, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Olavo Correia, the Minister of Health and Social Security, Arlindo do Rosário and the World Organization of Health representative in Cabo Verde, Mariano Salazar Castellon, the coordinator ensured work and accuracy so that the action plan and the proposed activities objectives are fully implemented.

In his view, the success of the project implementation will be a great gain for Cabo Verde that will be more resilient in the face of a crisis caused by vector-borne diseases.

He recalled that the country had twice been surprised by dengue fever and recently by Zika, where the response capacity was “very limited” due to the seriousness of the effects and forced the archipelago to request international aid.
