UNODC welcomes Cabo Verde’s efforts and commitment to preventing and combating the crime of trafficking in persons

Praia, Jul 24 (Inforpress) – The coordinator of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Cabo Verde (UNODC) today welcomed the “effort and commitment” that Cabo Verde is demonstrating in preventing and combating crime of trafficking in persons.

Cristina Andrade made this statement at the opening session of the second phase of the training seminar on “Trafficking in Persons: Protection and Assistance to Victims”, which takes place in the City of Praia, until the 26th of this month.

The Head of UNODC in Cabo Verde, who expressed her satisfaction at the continuing training on trafficking in persons, which at this stage focuses on protection and assistance to victims, added that it is “fundamental to act today” to protect and support victims of trafficking.

“The crime of trafficking in persons is a complex phenomenon, difficult to disclose, and has little visibility, and therefore needs capacity building, and a continuous effort by all public agents and civil society to allow us to identify the victims,” she said.
