São Vicente: European parliamentarians promise “pressure” on European executive for visas facilitation to Cabo Verdeans

Mindelo, Sep 20 (Inforpress) – MEP Mr Charles Tannock said today in Mindelo that on his return to Brussels (Belgium) the group of members will put more pressure on the Council of Ministers and the European Commission on the issue of visas facilitation.

This is a very important issue for the Cabo Verdean people, to be able to visit the EU without problems and it’s our ambition,” said the MEP, who promised to give a “formal parliamentary question” directly to the Commissioner on visa liberalization.

Charles Tannock was speaking at the City Hall of São Vicente as head of the mission at the beginning of the official visit of the Members of the European Parliament to  the Group of Friends of Cabo Verde from São Vicente.

“Our tradition is to keep pressure on the executive, the ballot, so that they play their part with the powers we gave them,” said the European parliamentarian, who was already part of a campaign in the European Parliament, as he revealed, to open visa facilitation for Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.

“Sometimes small countries are a little forgotten, they are not on the screen, the commission has been very focused on opening visas for Ukraine,” said Tannock, who pointed out that it is necessary to remember that Cabo Verde “is not a challenge, nor a  threat of illegal immigration “to Europe.
