João Teves, May 8 (Inforpress) – The City Hall of São Lourenço dos Órgãos (Santiago Island) will de-professionalize three of the four councilors in the next Municipal Assembly (AM) session scheduled for this month, said today Carlos Vasconcelos.
The Mayor, who was speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Potable Water Supply Network project in Palha Carga, under the Water and Sanitation Fund project (FASA), financed by the Millennium Challenge Account – Cabo Verde II – Cabo Verde II), said that this decision came out of a meeting held by the City Hall and it is “consensual”.
“We, at the beginning of the term, decided to professionalize all the four councilors, as the law requires, but after two years of the mandate, when we see that our policy is already drawn and the projects are already in place, we do not need all these professional councilors,” said Carlos Vasconcelos.
According to the mayor, taking into account that the municipality has “few resources” and “major interventions” in progress, especially in social areas and infrastructures, this decision will make the municipal treasury save more than 3. million escudos annually for investments.
