Santo Antão: Ponta do Sol will have a larger sea access infrastructure to serve the northern zone

Ribeira Grande, Feb 1 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Maritime Economy, José da Silva Gonçalves, announced at the end of his visit to Santo Antão that Ponta do Sol will, in the medium / long term, have a sea access infrastructure to serve the northern area.

This is the way to solve this problem, raised by the fishing sector operators from the different communities visited by the Minister José Gonçalves, whose studies are expected to start in the first half of February under the responsibility of Japanese specialists.

The infrastructure of Penedo de Janela, which despite the large invested resources was never used by fishermen because it presents design problems, received the visit of the Minister of Maritime Affairs who acknowledged that the resolution of the problems of this infrastructure presents requires specialized assessment with a view to the definitive resolution of this problem.

José Gonçalves, who made a “very positive” assessment of his visit to Santo Antão, identified other needs common to all the fishing communities visited during the four days he was in Santo Antão, namely access to ice and lack of infrastructure for the fish conservation.
