Santo Antão: ISCEE and University of Algarve prepare to start the doctorate in tourism within the Raízes project

Porto Novo, Aug 8 (Inforpress) – The Higher Institute of Economic and Business Sciences (ISCEE), in Mindelo, in partnership with the University of Algarve, Portugal, is finalizing preparations for the start of the first doctorate course in tourism in Cabo Verde.

This three-year course will be implemented within the framework of the Raízes (Local Networks for Sustainable and Inclusive Tourism) project in the Santo Antão Island, which is being implemented almost a year ago, co-financed by European Union (EU), in 500 thousand euros (55 million escudos).

According to information made available by ISCEE to Inforpress, at this point the bureaucratic issues for the beginning of the doctoral program are beginning to be finalized starting next month. The certificates of accreditation of the doctorates of both tourism and economic and business sciences, both foreseen in the framework of the Raízes project, have been issued since the end of 2017.

The EU, which has already aided Santo Antão in emergency situations (flooded in 2016 and drought in 2017), is now helping to promote sustainable tourism through the Raízes project, which is expected to reach 2020.
