Sal Island: Musicians take “Hora da Morna” to schools in the Cabo Verdean National Day of Culture

Espargos, Oct 18 (Inforpress) – A group of musicians in Sal Island takes “Hora da Morna” to public schools this Thursday to mark the Cabo Verdean National Day of Culture, celebrated on October 18.

Nelson Rendall, a musician, promoter of the event, together with other local musicians and cultural agents, said that the initiative called “A Hora da Morna” is intended to promote national folklore among adolescents and young people in Sal.

“Hora da Morna” consists of a small concert exclusively made up by mornas, lasting approximately one hour, having as a specific space for action, public schools”, he explained.

The activity starts on Thursday, at the Cabo Verdean National Day of Culture, in the Olavo Moniz High School, from 11:50 AM to 12:50 PM, followed by the elementary school from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM and, finally, in the Educational Campus of the New School, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
