Praia, Jul 18 (Inforpress) – The Social Democratic Party (PSD) is going to run for the next legislative (2021) and local elections (2020) and admits the possibility to support a candidate to the presidential elections (2021), if the project interest the country and to the people of Cabo Verde.
The revelation was made to Inforpress by the national political coordinator of the Social Democrats, Rui Além, for whom Congress, initially scheduled for last year but “postponed due to financial difficulties”, is conditional on the financial availability of its members.
“The party has no state support for its existence and functioning, so it survives without any financial autonomy. We are forced to make huge expenditures for the electoral debates,“ he said, to claim “that only parties with parliamentary seats” are financed by the State.
Rui Além cites article 121 of the Constitution to consider that Jorge Carlos Fonseca was elected President of the Republic unconstitutionally “upon being elected with majority” and accuses the Constitutional Court, as well as national bodies such as the Supreme, Presidency of the Republic, the Attorney General’s Office” to shame the people, the State and the Cabo Verdean Nation”.
