Praia Nov 8 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, will be awarded with the Raça Negra Trophy on November 20, in São Paulo, Brazil, at an event organized by Afrobras, which serves to mark the National Day of Black Consciousness.
This year’s award honors the Brazilian actress and singer Zezé Motta, several black and non-black personalities and authorities from Brazil and abroad are honored “for exalting, praising and publicizing the value of initiatives, actions, gestures, postures, attitudes, trajectories and achievements that have contributed to deepening and increasing the valorization of the black race. ”
Among the various international personalities is the head of the State of Cabo Verde, who, besides an active life in politics, is a writer, jurist, essayist and collaborator of several literary publications.
According to the organization of this event, the NGO Afrobras (Afro-Brazilian Society for Socio-Cultural Development) and the Zumbi dos Palmares Faculty, this is a “fair and timely recognition to those who have constantly contributed to the fight for racial equality” .
