PAICV presents proposal for regionalization in Parliament and a “major package” on local power reform

Praia, May 18 (Inforpress) – The PAICV (opposition party) parliamentary group today presented its proposal for a law on regionalization to parliament, as well as a “major package” on local power reform.

Speaking to the press, after formalizing the presentation of these proposals to the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Santos, the leader of the African Party of Independence of Cabo Verde reiterated that her party’s perspective on regionalization is part of a “comprehensive State reform” which, according to her, involves the” reduction of the Parliament structure, Government and Administration “.

According to Janira Hopffer Almada, all this reform also involves the “deepening of democracy”, which proposes limiting the mandate of political office holders and “nominal votes of MPs in closed but not blocked lists”.

“We have proposed a clear transfer of powers to the regions and they have to do with the administration of development,” said the opposition leader, who should pay special attention to regional finances.
