North Santiago: Emergency plan measures will be implemented by the end of November or early December


Pedra Badejo, Nov 5 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, said today in Santa Cruz that he has assurances from the Government that the emergency plan measures will be implemented by the end of November or, at the latest, in early December.

The Head of State gave this information to the farmers and livestock farmers in the municipality of Santa Cruz (Santiago Island), when he visited the municipality to verify the bad agricultural year effects in the field, being accompanied by the mayor, Carlos Silva, and the local Ministry of Agriculture and Environment delegate, Manuel Afonso.

“Concerned about the drought situation, Jorge Carlos Fonseca recalled that before starting this visit, he met on Friday with the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, and the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, who gave him details of the emergency program.

The same source added that the Government is also aware that action should be taken quickly, adding that resources are already being mobilized from international partners.
