New president of AJOC bets on the financial sustainability of private sector companies and class unity

Praia, Jul 30 (Inforpress) – Journalist Carlos Santos, elected Sunday, president of the Journalists Association of Cabo Verde (AJOC), promises to bet on the financial sustainability of private sector companies and the class unity.

In a total of 68 voters who participated in the general assembly work that has been meeting since Saturday, in the City of Praia, the single list led by Carlos Santos, after the withdrawal of Orlando Rodrigues candidature, obtained 61 favorable votes, five against two whites.

In presenting his business plan, Carlos Santos promised, above all, to invest in the private sector to leverage financial sustainability and class unity, as well as work on challenges in improving working conditions and producing information.

The new president reminded us that AJOC is not a union of the professionals of  Radio Television of Cabo Verde (RTC) and Inforpress and therefore promised “a lot of attention” on the issue of the financial sustainability of private companies “that are going through difficult times”.

“We have labor precariousness phenomena, wages far below what should be the salary of a professional journalist”, said Carlos Santos, assuring that he will “fight” to improve working conditions.
