National Director of Health urges civil society to join efforts to prevent and strengthen child safety

Praia, Aug 28 (Inforpress) – The National Director of Health today called on civil society to join efforts to ensure the strengthening and prevention of child safety and domestic accidents affecting Cabo Verdean children.

Artur Correia made these considerations during the opening ceremony of the training for trainers in child safety and prevention of domestic accidents, held this Tuesday in the City of Praia.

At the time, this official said that this training is intended to raise awareness among public health professionals on the issue of child safety, adding that there is a need for greater involvement of civil society components to achieve the objectives set.

“Child safety is a task that goes beyond health professionals, and other components of civil society, including NGOs, ICCA, need to be involved in preventive action to help disadvantaged communities and families to take their children”, he said, considering domestic accidents as one of the leading causes of death in children.
