Praia, Jul 23 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde’s U18 women’s handball team is already in the semi-finals of the African Youth Games, taking place at Algiers, Algeria, with victories recorded in the two games against Cameroon and the hosts of Algeria.
The move to the semi-finals was reached on Sunday, after the second successive victory over the hosts, Algeria by 30-27. Already on Saturday, in their debut game, the Cabo Verdean team began their participation with a victory over Cameroon by 22-12.
The national coach, Jean Pierre Spencer, rejoices at the way the players are repesenting the national colors, underlining the “good atmosphere, the union of the group and the commitment of the athletes” as being decisive for “the good work of the team”.
Cabo Verde will return to the field next Wednesday to play against the congener of Burkina Faso.
Now talking about taekwondo, Nicolas Fernandes, the only Cabo Verdean practitioner of the sport, was eliminated by a competitor from Morocco.
