Praia, Jan 9 (Inforpress) – A foreign vessel was found this Tuesday about six miles from a fishing stand near Tarrafal de Santiago with four corpses, which were already collected and handed over to health authorities.
According to information provided by a police source, the open mouth vessel with 15 meters in length, was found by a Cabo Verdean fishing boat that warned the maritime authorities, around 08:00 on Tuesday.
Speaking to the press, the captain of the Ports of Sotavento, Manuel Claudino Monteiro, said it was a typical artisanal fishing vessel from the West African sub-region, usually used in artisanal fishing. It was towed from the place where it was found to the port of the City of Praia.
The rescue of the bodies took place, according to this person, in an operation that ran from 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m., involving all national police and maritime authorities.
