São Filipe, July 24 (Inforpress) – The Government, through cooperation with the Canary Islands (Tenerife), is finalizing the tender documents for the construction of the new definitive winery of Chã das Caldeiras with capacity to transform 750 tons of grapes per year.
The information was revealed by the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, who on July 21 visited the temporary winery Chã, which has started the harvest season about one month ago.
The provisional winery will be able to receive all of this year’s production, which surpasses that of 2014, the year of greatest production and which exceeded 200 tons of processed grapes, said the president of the cooperative.
“It is good to note that the investment made in the temporary winery is good for this year’s harvest,” said Gilberto Silva, adding that in the framework of cooperation with the Cabildo de Tenerife, Canary Islands, the new winery project is completed and in the launch phase of tender for its construction, adding that the temporary wine cellar serves the island’s wine economy until the construction of the new winery.
The temporary wine cellar represents an investment in the order of 12 million escudos of equipment and the entire construction.
