Santa Maria, Sal Island, Jul 16 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic considered that if the CPLP Summit reached “serious, firm and consensual” commitments to have “visible gains” in people’s circulation in the short term would be the best birthday present in the community.
Jorge Carlos Fonseca, who was speaking on Sunday night to the press on his arrival in Santa Maria, Sal Island, the stage of the CPLP Summit, referred to the anniversary of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries, which this Tuesday marks 22 years of existence.
And that is why, he stressed, Cabo Verde arrives at the Summit with “high expectations, but with realism” as an organizing country that also “bets a lot” on the CPLP.
Cabo Verde’s brand of mobility and movement of people in the community, says the Head of State, has been “optimism and ambition,” but with a “sense of reality.”
“I do not think that the starting point should be ambition, because it must take into account what is possible, but we must commit ourselves with determination and creative ingenuity so that the goal we are aiming at is progressively achieved,” added Jorge Fonseca.
Because, he added, in the question of mobility it is wrong to think that with the Cabo Verde presidency, free and full circulation will be possible in the CPLP.
