Catholic teachers advocate introduction of Christian doctrine into school curriculum

Praia, Feb 18 (Inforpress) – The president of the Association of Catholic Teachers of Cabo Verde (APC-CV), Ricardino Rocha defended the need to introduce Christian doctrine in the national school curriculum.

Ricardino Rocha launched this challenge in statements to Inforpress at the4th International Forum on “Education and Anthropological Challenges in Cabo Verde”, organized by the Association of Catholic Teachers of Cabo Verde (APC-CV), which took place this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, in the City of Praia.

“We know that Cabo Verdean society is a Christian Jewish matrix”, he said, pointing out that throughout history “the Church has been at the forefront of education” and “the Cabo Verdeans who have stood out the most, in terms of notoriety, were students who left the schools created by the Church”.

“The Church has always been at the side of schools in promoting family values”, but today there has been “a reversal”, said Ricardino Rocha.
