Cabo Verde receives WHO equipment to combat diseases transmitted by the arbovirus family

Praia, Jul 25 (Inforpress) – The Ministry of Health today received from the WHO a donation consisting of equipment, vehicles, spray pumps, motorized and ventilator neonatal / pediatric, with a total value of one million dollars (about 90 million escudos).

Speaking to the press during the delivery of the equipment, in the framework of the Zika BAD / Cabo Verde combat project, the Minister of Health and Social Security, Arlindo do Rosário, expressed his rejoicing with this gesture that will allow greater and better security in the fight against vector.

“These equipment make a great contribution, in terms of logistics, in reinforcing the anti-vectorial fight. It is a comprehensive fight in which the Government invested in 2017, about 103 million escudos, aiming to eliminate the mosquito vector of arboviral diseases”, he said.

The investment, financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in the amount of one million dollars (about 90 million escudos), according to the Minister, will serve to support the various aspects of this combat, which have to do with equipment, training and laboratory strengthening.
