Cabo Verde and the Canary Islands discuss deepening and strengthening cooperation at parliamentary level

Praia, Jan 31 (Inforpress) – The president of the National Assembly and his counterpart from the Canary Island met Tuesday in the city of Praia to analyze the cooperation between the two countries and the deepening and strengthening at the parliamentary level.

Speaking to journalists, Jorge Santos highlighted the “excellent relationship” between Cabo Verde and the Canary Islands in the various sectors, and the delegation’s visit is a “clear sign” of the political “good relations”, both parliamentary and governmental.

He stressed, however, that parliamentary diplomacy can be seen as a space and an important instrument for strengthening bilateral relations and promoting a business environment and legal security in investments through a modern and functional legal framework.

“Our obligation as legitimate representatives of our peoples is to build the bridges of dialogue and solutions on a regional and global scale for the construction and consolidation of our strategic alliance,” said Jorge Santos, stressing that the idea is to strengthen the legislative and legal framework to provide and relaunch the best relations between the two countries.

On the other hand, he assured that the two countries, which have something in common in the environment, still have the “need and obligation” to create a legal environment that protects the waters of the Atlantic and to achieve the 2030 Nations Sustainable Development Goals United.
