Praia, Aug 01 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde will form Sao Tome military officers, according to the agreement signed today in Praia between Defense Minister Luís Filipe Tavares and his counterpart Arlindo Ramos.
At a press conference after signing the agreement, Luís Filipe Tavares said that Cabo Verde and Sao Tome and Principe will “intensify” their relations in the defense sector, training and “participation of the armies of both countries in joint military exercises”.
“We want to make the best possible use of the international partnerships we have”, said the Defense Minister of Cabo Verde, noting that São Tome and Principe has several international partnerships and with countries in the region of which it is a part, as well as Cabo Verde.
According to Luís Filipe Tavares, Cabo Verde wants military officers from Sao Tome and Principe to participate in joint military exercises in Cabo Verdean territorial waters involving forces from Portugal, Brazil, Spain, France and the United States of America.
For his part, Arlindo Ramos said that the agreement was a necessity that “has long been felt”.
