Brava: Farmers and livestock farmers accuse MAA delegate in the island of using public funds “for his own benefit”

Nova Sintra, Aug 23 (Inforpress) – The delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA) in Brava Island is accused by farmers and livestock farmers of using financial means, transport and employees of this ministry for his own benefit.

Like the rest of the country, the situation of the agricultural year in Brava Island evolved in a negative way due to the lack of rain, with the local and national government launching a campaign to mitigate the bad agricultural year.

With this program, some farmers and livestock farmers from Brava Island, including some MAA officials, contacted Inforpress to denounce some “abusive” acts allegedly committed by the MAA delegate, Estevão Fonseca, who, according to the group’s spokesperson, António Fernandes “Tony”, “saw in this mitigation project an opportunity to do his own business”.

António Fernandes said that despite the crisis and drought that prevailed throughout the country, the MAA delegate in the island “managed to maintain his garden located in the center of Nova Sintra, located behind the delegation facilities, “always green”  and with the “water meter off”.
