Mindelo, Jan 11 (Inforpress) – The Tartaruga Foundation, a non-profit organization that deals with the protection of sea turtles in Boa Vista, classifies 2018 as “very good” in the turtles nesting, which has tripled compared to 2017.

The foundation took stock of the activities, which Inforpress had access to, indicates that, in 2018, 15.345 nests were registered and 37.486 turtle departures.

Similarly, the source points out, during the protection season of 2018, from June 1st to October 31th, but with the presence of two groups until  December 19th last year on the beaches of Lacacão and Boa Esperança, a decrease in the number of animals killed per harvest, unlike previous years.

According to the records of the Tartaruga Foundation (FT), ten turtles killed, half compared to 2017, which is attributed to the decree law on the protection of sea turtles, published at the beginning of the 2018 campaign.
