Boa Vista: INE data shows that the local population represents 3.1% of the country’s resident population

Sal-Rei, Jul 4 (Inforpress) – The island’s population has been increasing steadily since 1990, when the island had 3.437 inhabitants, compared with 16.620 registered last year, corresponding to 3.1% of the Cabo Verde population, according to INE data.

Thus, the resident population in Boa Vista currently represents 3.1% of Cabo Verde’s resident population, with the majority being male, 58.8%, against 41.2% female, and the average age of the population is 29 years old.

The age group between 25 and 34 years represents the largest share of the population, 29.6%, followed by the age group between 35 and 64 years old with 29.0%, from 0 to 14 years old with a rate of 24.2%, 15-24 years old with 13.4% and over 65 years old 3.9%.

About the total population living  in the island of Boa Vista, 61.6% are from other islands of the country and 12% of its population is immigrant. The island currently has 5.722 households, 687 more than in 2016, of which 58.4 are male and 41.6% are female.
