Praia, Dec 6 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verdean writer Yara dos Santos was highlighted by the organization that works on valuing African literature in the world, Africa Writes, as one of the five Portuguese-speaking writers to be known by readers.
Yara dos Santos, is on the restricted list published on the organization’s website, which includes writers such as Mia Couto from Mozambique, Abdulai Silá from Guinea Bissau, Alda Neves do Espírito Santos from São Tome and Principe and Kalaf Epalanga from Angola.
With five works published, and the sixth one will be out before Christmas, the Cabo Verdean writer considers that the list of which she is part is the recognition of the work done by African writers, and especially women.
“I see my integration on this list as a way to show more and more the empowerment of African women, their involvement in showing that we can have a more active participation. That we can have a public life in our society by helping young people to believe in their values, ” she explained.
