WHO Regional Committee for Africa discusses the WHO/AFRO transformation agenda in Senegal

Praia, Aug 28 (Inforpress) – Health Minister Arlindo do Rosário is in Senegal to attend the 68th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa, where issues related to the agenda of WHO/AFRO and the Program Budget 2020/21.

At the meeting, attended by 47 health ministers and senior officials from African countries, a total of 400 delegates, taking place from August 27 to 31, the Regional Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Africa also analyzes the the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 2016/18 report on the state of health of the continent, structures for certification of polio eradication and control of cholera, among other important topics.

Delegates to the meeting, according to a WHO press release, will also review the progress report on the implementation of the Transformation Agenda of the World Health Organization Secretariat in the African Region 2015/2020, a document on resource mobilization efforts through strengthening partnerships to better support Member States.

Regarding the State of Health report in Africa, the WHO Regional Office for Africa admitted yesterday in its presentation that it offers a comprehensive update on the state of health, related services and health systems performance and its impact.
