Praia, Aug 7 (Inforpress) – The second phase of the CONCHA underwater archeology project of the Unesco Chair begins today with diving in the wreck of Urânia, (Bay of the Islet of Santa Maria) and also includes underwater excavation, collection and analysis of parts.
The information was submitted to Inforpress by the coordinator of the Monuments and Sites directorate of the Cultural Heritage Institute (IPC) Jaylson Monteiro, who explained that the CONCHA project of the UNESCO Chair – the Cultural Heritage of the Oceans aims to develop historical and patrimonial knowledge in the field of research, safeguarding and enhancing the underwater legacy.
“During the month of August, a set of activities are planned, such as diving, underwater archaeological excavation, analysis of the pieces, land archeology in Cidade Velha, with work, study and inventory of the Land Archeology Museum”, the responsible one, ensuring that the diving of this Tuesday, in the shipwreck of the Urania counts on the collaboration of the Maritime Police.
According to the coordinator, the dive in the São Francisco wreck takes place from 14 to 17 of this month, followed by the works for Cidade Velha between 21 and 31 August.
