Santo Antão (female) and North Santiago (male) national junior volleyball champions.

Ribeira Grande, Aug 29 (Inforpress) – Santo Antão, in women’s U-18, and North Santiago, in men’s U-19, were the national volleyball champions on Tuesday when they won the national final tournament of the mode held in the City of Pombas.

In the women’s final, the Santo Antão team won the game against São Vicente by 3-0, with the 25-11, 25-12 and 25-09 partials, a result that reflects the superiority demonstrated in the field by the girls from Santo Antão.

The Santo Antão player, Joiris Minecci was voted “the best female athlete” in the competition and at the end of the game told reporters that a competition at the U-18 level “was long awaited because Santo Antão has a very strong team and the proof is that managed to win the tournament”.

Santo Antão coach, Oracio Minecci, said that “the goal was achieved” and highlighted the work carried out over the course of six years with these girls, which was in the origin of the victory achieved in this U-18 national tournament.

In the male the final was played by two national team of Santiago Island, with victory of the North on the South by 3-0, with the partial ones of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-22, in which it was the first defeat of the capital city team.
