Santo Antão: Canto de Cagarra Dam begins to receive “within days” interventions works budgeted at 33 million escudos

Porto Novo, July 14 (Inforpress) – The Canto de Cagarra Dam, at the Garça valley in Santo Antão, which was seriously damaged during the floods of 2016, begins to receive, “within days”, recovery works estimated In 33 million escudos.

The information was provided to Inforpress by the delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA), in Ribeira Grande de Santo Antão, Orlando Jesus Delgado, who assured that the conditions are practically created to start the the recovery works of the dam, which in 2016 suffered heavy damage in the downstream part.

According to this official, the contractor only awaits the arrival of some materials from Portugal to start the works, which will focus on the replacement of the water supply and ramp, which were destroyed by the floods of September last year.

The interventions works will be also done in the installation of electricity in this dam for the operation of the pumps installed there, according to Orlando Jesus Delgado.
