Praia, Sep 7 (Inforpress) – The project to transform the Center for Renewable Energies and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI) into a center of excellence, financed by the European Union for about two million Euros is already under way.
In an interview with Inforpress, the coordinator of the CERMI Training and Projects Unit, Edson Mendes, said that this funding is intended to an anchor project of the center to support it in its internationalization, more concretely in regionalization.
CERMI has already established partnerships with various institutions in the West African Economic Community (ECOWAS) region, given the center alone can not move forward with this process.
“We are currently in the process of preparing for the training of trainers at ECOWAS level, and these trainers, or at least the best ones, the idea is to work with CERMI afterwards. The idea is to create a Trainers Database in the region which will be then available to CERMI both to provide training here in Cabo Verde and in other regions”, said the official.
In addition to the subregion, the Center for Renewable Energies and Industrial Maintenance intends to expand into the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) market, including the center already benefiting from a triangular project financed by around 200 Euros for cooperation to train 30 technicians from São Tomé and Príncipe in Cold and Air Conditioning and Photovoltaic Systems.
