Porto Novo: 25 kilometers of adduction network rehabilitated with water and sanitation project in Santo Antão

Porto Novo, Aug 30 (Inforpress) – About 25 kilometers of the water supply and distribution network in the City of Porto Novo will be rehabilitated within the framework of the Water and Sanitation Project in Santo Antão, scheduled to be launched in December.

The water distribution network in the City of Porto Novo, which was established 18 years ago, presents “serious deficiencies” that have created upheavals to the populations, especially in the high zones, according to an audit done to this infrastructure, that recommends investments around the 200 thousand escudos, medium and long term loans to solve the existing constraints.

According to the City Hall of Porto Novo, the network is constantly breaking down, registering an average of 20 ruptures / day, with losses around 45 %.

According to the project that Inforpress had access to, still in Porto Novo, in addition to the rehabilitation of the network, considered already obsolete, there will be 3.500 home water connections, as well as the construction and rehabilitation of reservoirs.
