NGO platform welcomes the integration of CSOs which carry out economic activity in the business census

Praia, Sep 11 (Inforpress) – The president of the Platform of Non-Governmental Organizations and Citi Habitat, Jacinto Santos, today welcomed the integration of non-profit institutions which carry out economic activity in the 5th Business Census, to be conducted in Cabo Verde.

In an interview with Infopress, Jacinto Santos said that this achievement, which is “indispensable condition” for the affirmation of the Social and Solidarity Economy (ESS) in the economic and social system of Cabo Verde, also represents the recognition of the Civil Society Organization (CSOs) role in structuring the country’s economic life.

“It’s one thing to talk about the dynamics of the non-profit organizations activities in Cabo Verde based in studies, documents, interviews and something else another is to be part of the national statistical system together with the classic companies and show that Cabo Verde has another dimension, another way of being and doing the economy and social”, he explained.

Jacinto Santos also stressed that this census is a “good starting point” for Cabo Verde, with an international impact, since, he added, the Cabo Verdean archipelago could enter the list of few countries that integrate, in the national statistical system, information on the activities of non-profit organizations.
