Praia, July 17 (Inforpress) – The national nurses’ strike scheduled for July 17 and 18 has been suspended, taking into account the promise of the Ministry of Health to approve its statutes by the end of the year.
In statements to Inforpress, the president of the National Democratic Union of Nurses (SINDEF), José Sanches, explained that this guarantee was given by the Ministry of Health during the negotiation meeting that took place in the Directorate General of Labor (DGT) which was attended by the director of the Agostinho Neto Hospital of Praia, Júlio Andrade.
“We reached an agreement and the strike was suspended because the Ministry undertook to return us the approved statutes by the end of the year and this satisfies the interest of the nurses. But in case of non-compliance, we will again strike,” assured the trade unionist, ensuring that permanent monitoring will be made to the ministry in charge.
According to José Sanches who attended the meeting of the DGT accompanied by members of the National Union of Nurses and Health Technicians (SNETS), a working committee will be created within 10 days and this will have 30 days to produce the situation report , stressing that if such a commission is not operating within the proposed timeframe, nurses will begin to “attack.”
