Minister of Justice wants a system that responds effectively to preventing and combating trafficking in persons

Praia, Jul 30 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Justice and Labor, Janine Lélis today defended the importance of Cabo Verde having a system capable of responding effectively to the prevention and combat of trafficking in persons.

Janine Lélis, who made this statement to the press, after presiding over the presentation of the National Plan Against Trafficking in Persons (PNCTP), aimed at its effective implementation, thus materializing an efficient response strategy.

“The PNCTP is a comprehensive plan, involving several institutions, all areas with responsibility in this area. It also provides for an institutional strengthening of training of police officers and magistrates on the issue of prosecution of the investigation of crimes in relation to trafficking in persons”, she said.

On the other hand, the official pointed out that this plan will also work on “communication of awareness and prevention”, and in this context is created the Monitoring Observatory,” for accuracy of data and information required.”
