Praia, Sep 7 (Inforpress) – The president of the CNDHC said Thursday that “in general in Cabo Verde human rights are respected, but daily it is faced with a violation of these rights, especially with regard to employment, social and cultural problems.
“We speak, for example, of situations of right to work. We have a lot of situations, especially of young people who still do not have access to the labour market”, affirms the president of the National Commission of Human Rights and Citizenship, Zaida Freitas, adding that, regarding health, there are people, who “can not fully access” this social good.
Zaida Freitas made these remarks to Inforpress in the margins of the closing ceremony of the first training for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on human rights held in Praia for two days.
“There are rights that are being realized, namely the right to education and the country has made a huge effort in this regard”, said the official, adding that while rights are being realized others are emerging.
However, he considers that the institution she directs is aware of some situations in which she has to “put pressure on” to change the public policies necessary for the realization of human rights in Cabo Verde.
