Government will proceed a “targeted  amendment” of the  Airport Security Tax law

Praia, Aug 23 (Inforpress) – The Government will proceed a “targeted amendment” of the Decree-Law 46/2018, of August 13, on Airport Security Tax (TSA), to “express the interpretation it considers correct”, says a Government statement, which Inforpress had access to.

According to the document, the amendment will expressly state that the natural passengers of Cabo Verde, as well as their respective spouses and descendants, are exempt from paying the TSA on international flights “upon presentation of passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate or other document stating the circumstance of having been born, married or born to a father or mother born in Cabo Verde “.

This decision from the Ulisses Correia e Silva executive is due to the fact that “a different interpretation” was given to the mentioned law related to the TSA, pointing in “contrary to the intended with the application” of the mentioned rate.

In the statement, the Government expressly states that at no time did it intend to create a “set of entry requirements in the country to Cabo Verdeans, whether or not having Cabo Verdean nationality or dual nationality”, different from what is required to the Cabo Verdians residing in Cabo Verde.
