Praia, Aug 14 (Inforpress) – The Deputy Prime Minister, Olavo Correia, said today that the Government maintains its position in relation to what it said about the deepwater port in São Nicolau, linked to the refinery and the ‘bunkering’.
Through a publication on his Facebook page, Olavo Correia, who is visiting the island of São Nicolau, explained that such a project fits into a Cabo Verdean service logic that mainly involves São Vicente, and particularly in this framework, São Nicolau and other islands.
“In this matter I reaffirm what the Prime Minister said that one of the hypotheses that is on the table within the framework of the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development of Cabo Verde (PEDS) is, in fact, this project”, he confirmed, noting that as far as possible the Government will mobilize the private sector to translate into reality what is foreseen in our Strategic Plan.
According to Olavo Correia, it is important to clarify that what is at stake is the evolution of the Special Maritime Economic Area in São Vicente, which covers the port, fisheries and all activity upstream and downstream of the maritime economy. This project, he added, also includes São Nicolau within the strategy.
