Cape Verde participates with the “Guardian” Patrol Ship in the OBANGAME EXPRESS 2017 exercise in Senegal

Praia, March 16 (Inforpress) – The “Guardian” patrol vessel of the Cabo Verde Coast Guard participates in the OBANGAME EXPRESS 2017 exercise to be held from 17 to 31 this month in Senegal, with a delegation of 50 professionals who deal with the issue on maritime safety.

In a statement to Inforpress, the director of the Maritime Safety Operations Center (COSMAR), Jose Mário Tavares explained that the objective is to enable participating countries to promote maritime security against constant threats such as drug trafficking, illegal fishing, piracy, humans search and rescue.

“Cabo Verde will participate with about 50 professionals in maritime safety, including Coast Guard, COSMAR, Judicial Police, Maritime Police and Fisheries inspectors,” he added.

The exercise, which brings together naval navies from around 30 countries around the world, is held annually with military personnel from African, European and American countries and aims to assess the region’s operations with maritime interdiction operations, approach techniques and training.
