Praia, Mar 5 (Inforpress) – The Portuguese Parliament will help the Cabo Verdean congener to implement its parliamentary television project, said today in the city of Praia the President of the National Assembly of Cabo Verde, Jorge Santos.
The guarantee was given after the signing of an agreement of cooperation between the two institutions, and Jorge Santos stressed that the existing relations between the two countries have led to an intertwining of economic, social, cultural, sports and, above all, political interests.
Taking into account the modernization of the institution, the use of new communication and information technologies for Parliament’s opening to civil society, he said that Cabo Verde will have the support from Portugal to implement these measures and its parliamentary television.
“At the moment we have a series of projects under way and we are studying, in partnership with Portugal, the television project of the Cabo Verdean Parliament, since it already has a vast experience in this field”, he pointed out, stressing that one of the great challenges of this cooperation is to be able to replicate this project in the archipelago, which in his opinion, will be a “fundamental and decisive measure” for the opening of parliament to society.
Jorge Santos said that this agreement will contribute to strengthening relations between the two countries and consolidate the existing cultural ties of friendship, fraternity, solidarity and cooperation.
The president of the Portuguese Parliament, Ferro Rodrigues, who started a two-day visit to the archipelago, considered the cooperation between the two parties as “excellent” and believes that it can be further strengthened.
