Praia, March 29 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean authorities are awaiting the extradition request from the United States of America (USA) to decide on the extradition of the two individuals detained in Cabo Verde, on the morning of Saturday, 22 this month, for indications of drug trafficking.
The information was advanced by the minister of Internal Affair, Paulo Rocha, in statements to the radio Voice of America, adding that the request for extraction will be assessed by the courts.
“An arrest warrant has been issued. The individuals were presented to the judiciary, in this case, the Court of Appeal. Now, a formal request must be made by the United States and as soon as the request is made it will be assessed by our courts that decide whether or not to extradite,” he explained that there is a deadline for doing so.
The Cabo Verdean Government clarified that the detention of these foreign citizens has nothing to do with their involvement in terrorist acts, but rather with drug trafficking.
