Praia, Jul 25 (Inforpress) – The young athlete Adriana Almeida has beaten the Cabo Verde record in the women’s 100 meters at the 4th African Youth Games held in Algeria, ranking second with 12 seconds and 05 hundredths.
With this mark, the junior athlete, surpassed this Tuesday the national record of 100 meters in senior women, a fact that surprised the technical director and Cabo Verde coach, Júlio Nagana.
“I was not expecting to have early a junior athlete in the mark of 12:05. It’s good for us because it’s visible here. The neighboring countries recognize the level of Cabo Verdean athletics”, said the helmsman.
Sprinter Adriana Almeida returns to the track this afternoon at 2:55 PM, Cabo Verde local time for the final of the women’s 100 meters and has as opponents Kenyan Odera Anyango, gambiana Bajinca Jalika, Nigerian Chukwuma Rosenmary, South African Xeyi Rose Nontombi, the Senegalese Diop Maty Assane, the Namibian Sade Amor de Sousa and Tsosha Oarabili from Botswana.
