Praia, Mar 1 (Inforpress) – The Amílcar Cabral Foundation (FAC) has chosen as its main challenge for the biennium 2018-2019 the registration of the writings of its patron in the Memory of the World program of the United Nations Educational (UNESCO).
In a press release, the foundation explained that the challenge, which is a “daring and pioneering” initiative in Cabo Verde, represents an “indispensable” condition for the full valorization, preservation and dissemination of the historic independence leader of Guinea-Bissau and Cabo Verde.
“Considering the universal value of this legacy, the great influence it had in Guinea-Bissau and Cabo Verde in particular, and in the Portuguese-Speaking African Countries (PALOP) and Africa in general, the intended registration, more than a desire, is a historical necessity,” he explained.
Although it considered the initiative to be “laborious but winning,” the institution justified Amílcar Cabral’s “emancipatory ideal” as a current and modern one, as well as based on the two major pillars of contemporary international law, or the Charter of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
